Frequently Asked Questions

Can you fund projects that just work in Bradford, Wakefield etc?

No.  Our remit is to fund work that directly benefits residents or groups in Leeds Metropolitan District.   Some of our specific grant programmes have geographical restrictions within the city.

Do I have to apply for a grant to each of your funds?

No.  You just need to submit one application form and we will decide which funds it should be considered by.

Do you have to be a registered charity to apply for a grant?

No.  We realise that many small groups, such as playschemes, are not registered charities.  You do need to be involved in a not-for-profit scheme for the majority of our grants, unless otherwise indicated.

Can I apply for more than one grant in the same year?

Yes.  However, we will only accept subsequent applications if we have received your completed monitoring form in relation to the first or previous grant.

What does it cost to set up a fund at the Community Foundation?

We normally suggest a minimum of £10,000 which can be paid over a period of years and which will usually qualify for tax relief. We're not rigid on this point and you'll find more information in the section on Methods of Giving.

Who runs the Community Foundation?

An independent board of Directors / Trustees, elected from the local private, statutory and voluntary sector, are legally and financially responsible for the Foundation.  The day-to-day management of the Foundation comes under the responsibility of the Chief Executive
